Meet Alexis
​
Alexis Young is a Pittsburgh native who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies from The University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Science in Education with a focus in Secondary English from Duquesne University. She is a former Middle School English Teacher and has also worked as a swimming instructor, a waitress, a writing tutor, and a substitute teacher. Alexis volunteers with the SCBWI as well as organisations and schools in her area. Having previously lived and worked in the Midwest, the South, and on the West Coast, Alexis currently resides in Swarthmore, PA with her two children, one husband, infinite houseplants, and her (second) very lovable rescue dog, Gerry.

Publishing History
Alexis’s publishing credits include poems in the Swarthmorean, 2019-2024, and H/SHE SPEAKS: VOICES OF WOMEN AND TRANS FOLX, a 2023 Moonstone Anthology.

Alexis will next read with Moonstone Poetry at Fergie’s Pub in Philadelphia, PA in October 2024. She read her poetry at the Livin’ on Luck series in West Chester, PA in May 2024. She has also read at Mad Poets First Wednesday in May 2023, at Elkins Park Free Library in March 2023, and the Mad Poets Festival in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
